Grabio v3.5.0 is live: branded saves, AI background remove, and the picker-confusion bug is finally gone

Grabio just shipped v3.5.0 — what I am calling the final release. Same Shortcut you have been installing for the last month, with every rough edge filed down. If you have been using an older build, opening Grabio prompts you to install the new one in one tap.

What v3.5.0 fixes (the bugs people kept reporting)

PDFs save silently to one place

For three weeks I shipped a version where saving a PDF opened the iOS Files picker and asked you to pick a destination. Every save. Even after iOS was supposed to remember the last folder. v3.5.0 returns to the May 4 save model — silent saveFile with a hardcoded path. PDFs, audio, ringtones all land at Files → Shortcuts → Download/ automatically. No picker. No confusion about whether the file saved.

Photos, videos, GIFs still go to the Photos app the same way they always did.

Files have branded, readable names

Before: Photo.pdf, IMG_4521.pdf, gibberish UUIDs from the server.

Now every export has a clear semantic name with a Grabio signature:

  • Photo_grabio.pdf — photo converted to PDF
  • Webpage_grabio.pdf — webpage saved as PDF
  • Compressed_100KB_grabio.jpg — compressed to exact size
  • Resized_square-1080_grabio.jpg — resized to 1080×1080 social square
  • BG_Square_1x1_grabio.jpg — white background fill, 1:1 aspect
  • MP3_192kbps_grabio.mp3 — audio converted to MP3
  • Background_Removed_grabio.png — AI background remove
  • Combined_3files_grabio.pdf — three PDFs merged into one

Easy to find in Files. Easy to share with a name that says what the file is.

Portrait photos stay portrait

Older versions did not honour the EXIF orientation tag on iPhone photos. Share a portrait photo, ask Grabio to resize it for Instagram square, get back a sideways image. v3.5.0 calls sharp.rotate() on every image pipeline before any other operation. The output respects what your iPhone showed you when you tapped Share.

What is in the Free tier

Five actions a day across 23 utilities. Genuinely free forever. No card. No trial countdown. The 5-a-day cap resets at midnight IST.

  • Image: Change Format (JPG ↔ PNG ↔ WebP), Smart Compress, Compress to exact size (50 KB to 2 MB targets), Resize for social (16 presets), Photo → PDF, White Background Fill (4 aspect ratios), Strip EXIF and location data, Decode QR code
  • PDF: Compress PDF (3 quality levels), Strip PDF metadata, Extract first 5 / first 10 / last 5 pages, Delete first / last page
  • Audio: MP3 at 128 / 192 / 320 kbps, M4A, WAV, OGG
  • URL: Webpage → PDF (clean reader view), Webpage → Image (full-page screenshot)

Privacy stays the same

  • Files auto-delete from the server within 1 hour.
  • No account. No login. No email collection.
  • The only thing stored is a one-way SHA-256 hash of your Device Name + Device Model, used to count your daily actions. The hash cannot be reversed to identify you.
  • No third-party analytics. No tracking pixels. Cloudflare in front for DDoS protection, but no behavioural profile is built.

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone.
  2. Visit grabio.adityaarsharma.com/grabio.shortcut — or use the short link grabio.adityaarsharma.com/get-shortcut.
  3. Tap Get Shortcut.
  4. The Shortcut installs as Grabio – File & Media Toolkit.
  5. To use: open any photo or file → tap the Share button → scroll to Grabio.

If you already had an older version installed, opening Grabio shows the v3.5.0 update prompt — one tap and you are on the new build.

Where to go from here
